Vata, Pitta, and Kapha — the three fundamental energies that shape your body, mind, and personality. Discover your unique constitution.
According to Ayurveda, every being is born with a unique combination of the three doshas. This constitution — your prakriti — determines your physical traits, mental tendencies, and your path to perfect health.
Air & Space — "That which moves"
Vata governs all movement in the body and mind — breathing, circulation, nerve impulses, and creativity. When balanced, Vata brings vitality, flexibility, and inspiration. When imbalanced, it manifests as anxiety, restlessness, dryness, and irregularity.
Light, dry, cold, mobile, subtle, rough
Creative, energetic, adaptable, quick learner
Anxiety, insomnia, dry skin, constipation, worry
Warm, oily, grounding foods; routine; rest
Fire & Water — "That which digests"
Pitta governs digestion, metabolism, and transformation — both of food and of ideas. It fuels intellect, courage, and purpose. Balanced Pitta brings sharp intelligence and warm charisma. Imbalanced, it leads to anger, inflammation, and perfectionism.
Hot, sharp, oily, light, liquid, spreading
Focused, courageous, intelligent, warm-hearted
Irritability, heartburn, skin rashes, impatience
Cooling foods, sweet tastes, time in nature, moderation
Earth & Water — "That which holds"
Kapha provides structure, stability, and lubrication. It gives strength, endurance, and emotional calm. Balanced Kapha is steady, loving, and patient. When imbalanced, it creates stagnation, weight gain, attachment, and resistance to change.
Heavy, slow, cool, oily, smooth, dense, stable
Calm, strong, loving, patient, devoted, grounded
Weight gain, lethargy, congestion, stubbornness
Light, warm, stimulating foods; exercise; variety
